MFA

Boston is the best city in the world. Boston Rocks. The MFA Rocks. I've been a few times, but never when it is decorated for the holiday season. I had no idea it could be more beautiful than it already is. But look at this place. Trees and twinkle lights with red bows and merriment everywhere.

While I hadn't planned for such grandeur, I photo-shopped myself spectacular to fit these gorgeous surroundings.

After a five month wait . . .

Passports! We have Passports!!Apparently young, white, married lesbians are a threat to homeland security. One of my mommies was denied (waitlisted, given the run around, etc) her passport because she changed her name to match that of my other mommy.

Now, you may think this is just nonsense, but she'd been living under her married name for a year when she applied for her passport. Official documents, records, bank statements and so forth were all in her new name. Even her social security card said her married name. But thanks to some backwards folks in Washington who refuse to acknowledge her marriage, she was unable to get a regular passport.

Of course it has arrived and she's so much above a regular passport. Her's says, "Pulpito's Mama" known as "Pulpito's Married Mama." Kinda cool actually and the five month wait really didn't hurt anything so not such  a big deal, just annoying. Right?

It's Christmas!!!

Christmas is finally here!
There are slippers everywhere,
wrappings and activity surround in a square
Do I really have to wait an entire year?
I should become a Christmas Conventioneer!

Almost Christmas

All I can think about is Christmas. Christmas. Christmas. Christmas! If you've got Christmas on the brain and need a few distractions, try a few of these. They really did it for me.

"Hey, I don't mind if I toot my own horn. Toot, toot!"

1982 was a great year. Thriller was released. "Bette Davis Eyes" grabbed a Grammy. MRI machines were introduced. Spain hosted the World Cup. And Alex P. Keaton said, "Hey, I don't mind if I toot my own horn. Toot, toot!"

For MJF, for Spain and for 1982 I'm tooting my horn!
Toot, toot, TOOT!!!

Nutcracker 2007

Look!
Look!

I'm ready for the Nutcracker ballet! Boston has the best nightlife and tonight I'm heading over to the theatre district, actually between there and Downtown Crossing as this year's performance is at The Opera House. One of the most beautiful theatres in the city.

See you there!

Candy Cane Yummies

Today I ate candy canes. And we went to church. And I watched the Christmas pageant and the kids dressed up and we sang songs and there were candy canes. And I had a good time. But did I mention I ate candy canes? Because I did, I found a whole bucket and I ate and I ate and I ate some more. they were minty and I think a little red.
Yum yum, YUMMY!!!

History of Photography

Lately I have been reading up on great photographers and photography, today I've been at it ALL DAY!! I hadn't ever heard of Alfred Stieglitz until after I'd had my moment yesterday and I'm curious what other great photographers there are. This photo was snapped while I was checking out Edward Weston - I love his peppers, they have that same grace that his nudes have, lovely.

Aren't I studious? I love to sit like this!

Heavy Snowfall.

Today, we had a pretty big snowstorm. I thought I'd get out there early, while all the kids were still in school, and enjoy the flakes as they fell. But in reality the flakes were on super-speed and before I could twirl my eight legs in the air and catch flakes on my lips I was covered in snow!

Wednesday, December 12, 2007

Found this old photo of a distant relative. I'm not sure if this is my cousin's half brother's aunt or uncle but I know we're related. Seeing anyone with eight legs stuck in a big jug upside down must be uncomfortable. Ughh, the horror of this image haunts my dreams.

Seriously.

Seriously, are your feet ever so cold you just can't get warm? I'm having that problem - times eight! I found some friends and we're cuddling to preserve heat, but man I'm cold!

Blue Steel

Wow, who knew that vacuuming could be so dangerous?! This afternoon I'm going to relax, watch some Zoolander, I love that movie!, and stay in. It's pretty cold outside. And my Blue Steel is way off. I need some practice!

It's snowing!!!

It's Snowing!
It's Snowing!
Flakes are falling from the sky!
No time to say "Hello."
Goodbye.
It's Snowing, It's Snowing, It's Snowing!

Up a tree.

Hmmm, I climbed up here to get a better look at the Christmas ornaments and now I'm stuck. I thought maybe Tom & Jerry could help me, but I can't find them anywhere!

Happy Chanukah!

Tonight I celebrated Chanukah with my Jewish friends! They lit two candles for the first night of Chanukah and when we came home we lit one candle because it's still the first week of Advent. I love this time of year!

Stealing Cookies

Well, I finished my no-internet for 24-hours sentence and before I had time to really enjoy it I was caught stealing cookies. Co. was annoyed, said I should have just asked and apparently stealing cookies isn't half as bad as getting caught making snow-octies on the train ledge. They really turned out great, but I missed blogging and surfing and my internet freedom. I won't be doing that again!

Pulpito is grounded.

Naughty Pulpito. He climbed out of the window onto the ledge to watch the trains and make snow-octies. It was very scary with the trains whizzing past but I couldn't pass up the photo opportunity nor could I ruin his fun. He was just too cute in his new mittens and hat. And who knew he was such a great snow-octie maker? Always surprising, that cute Pulpito.

Despite any and all cuteness Pulpito is grounded off of the computer tonight. If he's good we'll let him come back to blog more pictures and tell you all about it tomorrow.

Beginning of Advent.

Yep, I was all ready for Christmas after we decorated the tree. Then this morning Co. told me it is the first day of Advent. I wanted to know if that includes presents? It took a few minutes but I get the idea that Advent means gifts of a different sort. I'm looking forward to lighting the first candle later this evening.

The glow of electric Christmas.

We're putting the lights on!!! Our tree will shed light through the night like the soft glow of electric Christmas gleaming for all to see.

Me and Diggity-Dawg posing for our first shot in front of the tree.

UFO: Unidentified Flying Octopus

Octi in Space
No thoughts for you today, just a picture of how cool I am.

Tuesday, November 27, 2007

Snow. Snow. snow. Snow-body knows . . .

Ever since that 1st snowfall last week I've been begging for more snow. I'm dying to get out and play in it, I could totally make a snow-octie.

This was the best Co. could do. I really enjoy all of the plastic snowflakes and I'm now covered in glitter.

I'm such a sparkly lil Bugger!

Monday, November 26, 2007

We put the tree in it's stand, found a nice location for it in the living room and that's about it. I'm looking forward to having lights on it, we put it in front of a window so the neighbors can see, but there just wasn't time once we finished last night.

Today I rode the T which is Boston's subway. It's pretty big and loud and fast although sometimes it feels really slow. I ride it every week, always on Mondays, but this was my first picture while riding. While it isn't the rule they get pretty cranky about passengers taking photos. It's pretty annoying if you ask me.

You can see by my picture, it was a pretty empty train.

O Christmas Tree

Maybe I missed Irving Berlin's White Christmas, but I rocked this Christmas tree!!! We picked a really big one. I can't wait to get the lights on it!

Saturday, November 24, 2007

Recap.

I listened to a recap of White Christmas and finally stopped pouting after a good hour of research, pictures and internet time. We learned that Irving Berlin was born in 1888 and died in 1989, over 100 years old! Aside from writing the theme song, White Christmas, he wrote the supporting songs as well. And, he was Jewish!

I love the holidays! Now I'm relaxing with a nice, large, cup of [iced] tea.

*pout*

Rats! Co. caught me pouting. I have to admit, I did try to work it. If you knew why you'd understand.

According to Co. Thanksgiving starts the Holiday Season. For us those holidays are Christmas and New Years. While shopping isn't my thing I genuinely love christmas. I love the Christmas story, I love seeing Nativity scenes, twinkle lights and that warm feeling that even an octopus can't ignore. Streets covered in snow, red bows and greens hanging from posts and doors, it's just beautiful.

There are lots of ways to get into the holiday spirit, going to church, writing letters, holiday cards (sending or receiving), hearing music, attending performances, wrapping gifts, buying trees and so on. Well, tonight Co. is going to see a show. White Christmas. Irving Berlin. He's so cool! It's terribly unfair but they won't take me! Thus the pouting.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Thanksgiving, they are telling me it's a big deal. I've looked all over the internet and found a few things about pilgrims and turkeys and American indians and corn and the Mayflower. It's all very interesting and a little odd. But a feast?! I'm up for a feast!

Co. says this is their first year hosting the big event. The family drove three hours to be here and a few friends arrived late. we had two almost sixties, three in their thirties, two in their twenties, a preschooler, me and the dog. Everything had an Indian flair to it, not American Indian but actual Indian-type cuisine. I liked it but the family, our visitors, were a bit disappointed. They like the same thing everytime. Co. says we may do it differently next year, but overall they were pleased and told me to expect guests again in November 2008. I'll have to make the cranberry jelly! I'm not sure how I'll do this, we didn't have any this year and I'm afraid I won't know how to make it next year. Anyone who knows how, please drop me a line.

Hmm, what's with this dog?!

Looking for Information.

Co. says that tomorrow is Thanksgiving. We're going to have the family over for dinner. I don't know what this Thanksgiving is. I've been asking a few friends. PinkBunni had no idea what I was talking about. No one really had a clear answer so I turned to the internet. Man the internet is a cool thing!

Wikipedia is one of my favorite sites now. I start there then, once I have an idea of what I'm looking for, I go to google, and before long I'm surfing the wide-open seas! There's a lot out there about Thanksgiving and I think I'm understand better. Not sure if I'll actually eat turkey tomorrow or just gobble down some pie

Monday, Monday.

Uggh.
Monday of a short week is still Monday.

Finally done!

Geeze!
That care package took a long time!
Lots of layering and filling.

Of course Co. needed my help.

Projects@home.

Today I'm staying home. No more advice, no searching. Actually I have two projects I'm going to work on. Sanding this old lingerie chest, in case the right gal does come along, I'll have appropriate storage for her lingerie. I'm joking of course. Co. asked if my eight legs could help this project move faster so I agreed to help.

My second project indirectly involves girls. College girls. I'm also helping Co. with a care package that's headed to their alma mater. In April they'll fly out there for their 10th reunion. Contacting the gals who are where they were so many years ago sounded like fun and with all of these toys - how could I resist?!

Ducks though? Who's mascot is a duck?!
