The glow of electric Christmas.

We're putting the lights on!!! Our tree will shed light through the night like the soft glow of electric Christmas gleaming for all to see.

UFO: Unidentified Flying Octopus

Octi in Space
No thoughts for you today, just a picture of how cool I am.

Snow. Snow. snow. Snow-body knows . . .

Ever since that 1st snowfall last week I've been begging for more snow. I'm dying to get out and play in it, I could totally make a snow-octie.

This was the best Co. could do. I really enjoy all of the plastic snowflakes and I'm now covered in glitter.

I'm such a sparkly lil Bugger!

We put the tree in it's stand, found a nice location for it in the living room and that's about it. I'm looking forward to having lights on it, we put it in front of a window so the neighbors can see, but there just wasn't time once we finished last night.

Today I rode the T which is Boston's subway. It's pretty big and loud and fast although sometimes it feels really slow. I ride it every week, always on Mondays, but this was my first picture while riding. While it isn't the rule they get pretty cranky about passengers taking photos. It's pretty annoying if you ask me.

You can see by my picture, it was a pretty empty train.

O Christmas Tree

Maybe I missed Irving Berlin's White Christmas, but I rocked this Christmas tree!!! We picked a really big one. I can't wait to get the lights on it!

Recap.

I listened to a recap of White Christmas and finally stopped pouting after a good hour of research, pictures and internet time. We learned that Irving Berlin was born in 1888 and died in 1989, over 100 years old! Aside from writing the theme song, White Christmas, he wrote the supporting songs as well. And, he was Jewish!

I love the holidays! Now I'm relaxing with a nice, large, cup of [iced] tea.

*pout*

Rats! Co. caught me pouting. I have to admit, I did try to work it. If you knew why you'd understand.

According to Co. Thanksgiving starts the Holiday Season. For us those holidays are Christmas and New Years. While shopping isn't my thing I genuinely love christmas. I love the Christmas story, I love seeing Nativity scenes, twinkle lights and that warm feeling that even an octopus can't ignore. Streets covered in snow, red bows and greens hanging from posts and doors, it's just beautiful.

There are lots of ways to get into the holiday spirit, going to church, writing letters, holiday cards (sending or receiving), hearing music, attending performances, wrapping gifts, buying trees and so on. Well, tonight Co. is going to see a show. White Christmas. Irving Berlin. He's so cool! It's terribly unfair but they won't take me! Thus the pouting.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Thanksgiving, they are telling me it's a big deal. I've looked all over the internet and found a few things about pilgrims and turkeys and American indians and corn and the Mayflower. It's all very interesting and a little odd. But a feast?! I'm up for a feast!

Co. says this is their first year hosting the big event. The family drove three hours to be here and a few friends arrived late. we had two almost sixties, three in their thirties, two in their twenties, a preschooler, me and the dog. Everything had an Indian flair to it, not American Indian but actual Indian-type cuisine. I liked it but the family, our visitors, were a bit disappointed. They like the same thing everytime. Co. says we may do it differently next year, but overall they were pleased and told me to expect guests again in November 2008. I'll have to make the cranberry jelly! I'm not sure how I'll do this, we didn't have any this year and I'm afraid I won't know how to make it next year. Anyone who knows how, please drop me a line.

Hmm, what's with this dog?!

Looking for Information.

Co. says that tomorrow is Thanksgiving. We're going to have the family over for dinner. I don't know what this Thanksgiving is. I've been asking a few friends. PinkBunni had no idea what I was talking about. No one really had a clear answer so I turned to the internet. Man the internet is a cool thing!

Wikipedia is one of my favorite sites now. I start there then, once I have an idea of what I'm looking for, I go to google, and before long I'm surfing the wide-open seas! There's a lot out there about Thanksgiving and I think I'm understand better. Not sure if I'll actually eat turkey tomorrow or just gobble down some pie

Monday, Monday.

Uggh.
Monday of a short week is still Monday.

Finally done!

Geeze!
That care package took a long time!
Lots of layering and filling.

Of course Co. needed my help.

Projects@home.

Today I'm staying home. No more advice, no searching. Actually I have two projects I'm going to work on. Sanding this old lingerie chest, in case the right gal does come along, I'll have appropriate storage for her lingerie. I'm joking of course. Co. asked if my eight legs could help this project move faster so I agreed to help.

My second project indirectly involves girls. College girls. I'm also helping Co. with a care package that's headed to their alma mater. In April they'll fly out there for their 10th reunion. Contacting the gals who are where they were so many years ago sounded like fun and with all of these toys - how could I resist?!

Ducks though? Who's mascot is a duck?!

Groovy Kind of Love

Enlisted a stranger, turned friend, to help me on my search. As of yet love is still eluding me. Where should an attractive octi start?

Sambuca here says,
"Music man. Chicks dig the beats."

He has a few horns and a diatonic accordion, do those really drive girls mad with desire? With eight legs I'm sure I could get the hang of it, whereas figuring out the horns, having no nose, would be much tricker.

I'll consider it.

Looking for Love.

Seeing your life flash before your eyes really makes you sit back and consider what's important. I think I'm the first to realize that. Must be because I'm an octi and only human in personality.

True love is one of those unparalleled life events. I knew, as I hung by a thread, that I needed to get out there and find someone. I've thought about putting an ad in the personals, thanks to suggestions (or were they jokes?) made by Co., but worry my reputation would be an issue. You see, my name, Pulpito, is more of a nickname in Spain. Actually, it's a negative term associated with guys who are all over you. All arms. But give me a break, eight legs, kissing, of course they are all doing their own thing . . . and before you know it you've gotten this reputation.
So no online dating services for me. Nope. Nada.

Co. said that there's a bar down the street, but they aren't sure what my type would be. Funny, I thought I was always talking about myself, but I guess I've never talked about my first love, Sirena. (Sire for short.)
She was beautiful. Regal. Strong. And all the octis wanted her. But she only had eyes for me. For a brief time it was just Sire and I. She'd swim to my place and we'd snuggle. I'd swim over to hers and we'd cuddle. It was perfect for a moment, then, it was gone.
To find a love as unique as what Sire and I had is unfathomable but I'm going to try.

Sticky Wicket.

Hmmm, this is a bit of a sticky wicket. I didn't make it too far before I found out just what Co. was talking about when they told me to be careful.

Not sure where I should go from here. I'm kind of stuck.

Hello?

Anyone out there?

New Music.

Couldn't find the cds or slippers and I finally asked Co. where they'd gone. Apparently cd is short for compact disc and ours are storing Christmas music! All of these warm fuzzy (read: sappy & mushy) songs I've been hearing are the cds I was surrounded by earlier this week. The slippers have been wrapped and put away until Christmas Eve

Now that I know Co. has pretty simple taste in music, I'm headed out in search of choices to broaden their horizons. Here in Boston there are cabs of every color but I've never seen red before. I think I'm pretty lucky to have found Boston's only read taxi driven by a friendly, sheepish chauffeur. Co. warned me about wolves in sheep's clothing, but I don't see how that applies here.

They are Gone!!

Searching and searching and I can't find them ANYWHERE!!!
Yesterday there were slippers and cds everywhere and today I can't locate any of them anywhere! I just came across this stack of drawers. I checked the bottom few without success and I'm headed to the top to see if they are there.

Feeling like a chicken with its head cut off.

Talk about frenzy! What is this? I'm surrounded by music and gifts all intended for the holidays. Yesterday was definitely the calm before the storm. I read about this holiday season on Wiki. It's one of those things I'd heard mentioned, but never actually encountered. And it's everywhere! There are slippers and cds all around me! How do I escape this craziness?!?!

Ughh, chicken or an octi with its legs cut off, this frenzied time of year is something I can live without! Where are those tastey cookies

I WANT COOKIES!

Two amazing finds, one afternoon at home.

After I checked out the mall Co. thought I might enjoy another crazy phenomena called the internet. Now I can hear you laughing so just stop it. I'm aware of the obvious fact that my blog is posted on this thing called the internet, but I've never explored anything outside my blog page.

With a little help I was online and free to roam about seeing what there was to see. Having everything right there was pretty spectacular. No card catalog, dewey decimal system, heavy books to drag along behind me, nope. Just a keyboard and eight helpful legs to navigate my way through. Of course all of this searching gave me quite an appetite and I stopped for a snack.

Unlike those of you with an ounce of self-control, I'm an octi with an appetite! Homemade chocolate chip cookies hit the spot and I spent the remainder of the afternoon enjoying my sugar coma and newly found surfing capabilities!

Feeling Better

That cold was a doozy! You have no idea how many tissues one can go through using eight legs and having no nose. It's as if the snot just pours out and eight tissues at a time just aren't enough! Spending so much time at home was making me crazy! Lucky for me Co. had also gotten pretty sick and tired of being inside. There was an outing planned that I couldn't have imagined had I tried.

The mall.
Not sure if you've ever been to one, but Wow! That first view is a doozy! There's so much to see. Stores and lights and advertisements and people everywhere! Who thought of such a thing? It's like life multiplied by itself over and over again, then shoved into a building with bad lighting and stale air. Don't get me wrong, it's was interesting, but honestly? I couldn't wait to get out of there!

As fate would have it, my single photo from this trip illustrates the multiplicity, stale-icity and sheer lunacy of the entire place is captured in this one moment of complete abandon I had.
Yum, stale skittles.

Time-Out

Blogger time-out.I've got a temperature.

Ah, perfection.

Of course to look this good I have to eat right.
I love vegetables with broth and a little protein. Cooking 'um long and slow makes the entire house smell good and blends the flavors to perfection.

narcissism becomes me

Yesterday I was feeling relaxed and proud with my pre-holiday weigh in. Today I'm feeling exposed and scrutinized. Being a male octi my pride is soft and I can be sensitive at times. This makes me vulnerable to fits of narcissism.

400 grams

Yep, 400 grams.

I'm a perfectly-proportioned-Pulpito!

Pulpitacopia

Okay, truth be told I'm not a Pulpitacopia, had a little too much wine last night and I'm feeling a little sloshy . . . . . . or slopey or just plain unable to stand up. I'm getting into these holidays. Tell me about those Pilgrims again . . .

Party Time!

After starting fresh I relaxed a bit and BOOM! Co. had a party, at our house! It was great! There was wine, too much wine, and cheese, and pictures, and people, new people, and me - see me right there in the middle of it all?! I'm such a social fella.

A fresh start

Today is a new day. It's the beginning of a new month. Let's have a fresh start.
With eight bottles of bubbly-wash, a Pulpito-sized tubbie and a rubber duckie I'm going to sit back and let Ernie do the talking...

Rubber Duckie you're the one
You make bath time lots of fun
Rubber Duckie I'm awfully fond of you

Rubber Duckie joy of joys
When I squeeze you, you make noise
Rubber Duckie you're my very best friend it's true
I find a little fellow who's cute and yellow and chubby
Rub a dub dubby
Rubber Duckie you're so fine and I'm lucky that you're mine
Rubber Duckie I'd like a whole pond of you
Rubber Duckie I'm awfully fond of you

Ahhh . . . starting fresh is so relaxing . . .

Along came a spider . . .

Furry-legs here said she had a great time at the trick-or-treating ball last night. She hung around this bush and watched all of the oddly dressed people parade up and down the street. Getting out everyday is wonderful, don't get me wrong, but before I didn't know what I was missing. I'm not sure if I like things better now or the way they were before.
